The Latest Breaking News from Around the World

It’s been a tough week. We’ve had some rough days. Some difficult times. News stories from around the world have been circulating the internet, and the most recent ones are even more troubling than ever before.

It seems like it might be a good idea to take a break from all of this madness for a bit, but you can’t do that when there are so many headlines to keep up with. Luckily for you, though, we’re here to make your life easier.

The Latest Breaking News

On Wednesday, October 18th, there was a mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. Nine people were massacred, and seven others were harmed. The suspect is 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer, who walked into the school with six guns and began firing on unsuspecting students. This event marked the 294th mass shooting in America since January 1st of this year.

On Thursday, October 19th, President Obama gave a speech in response to the killings at Umpqua Community College. He said that “our thoughts and prayers are not enough” to stop these tragedies from happening. He pledged to take action against gun violence within his power by directing staff members to create new guidelines on gun sales.

President Obama’s words resonated with many Americans who support stricter gun control laws. Obama’s comments were also made just an hour after he announced plans for more airstrikes in Syria, which has caused debate among Americans about how much military force should be used abroad versus what should happen domestically.

Meanwhile, this Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of Israeli occupation in Gaza and the West Bank.

Latest News in China

China has been in the news a lot recently, mainly because of the trade war that’s going on between them and President Trump. You might have seen stories about how companies are pulling out of China because they’re not sure what to expect with their businesses. Well, it turns out that even Chinese consumers are feeling the pinch when it comes to their wallets.

More specifically, consumers are experiencing inflation in their day-to-day lives. And this is affecting everyone from students to migrant workers, causing protests to break out across China. The government is trying to address people’s concerns by trying to stimulate the economy again by increasing infrastructure spending. This will hopefully help to combat some of that inflation in prices that people are experiencing in their day-to-day lives.

Recent Developments with Russia

Russia not only has the nation faced heavy criticism for its involvement in Syria and Ukraine, but it’s also been accused of meddling with our presidential election.

The FBI and CIA have both said that the Russians were trying to influence the election by hacking into DNC email servers and leaking information to embarrass Hillary Clinton. Multiple sources have confirmed that these tactics were used to help Donald Trump win the election.

In addition, several state-sponsored Russian media outlets pushed a pro-Trump agenda throughout his campaign. Though Russia has denied any wrongdoing, there have been reports from multiple news outlets claiming that Russia was involved in hacking the DNC.
